BEST NEW HALLOWEEN AUDIO & DVD SUGGESTIONS

If you are tired of those mass-market Halloween audio CDs for your haunted house, please consider the CD below.  My favorite Dark Ambient CD, "Magnificent Void" is perfect to set the Halloween mood.  Set your CD player on endless repeat and you are set for Halloween night.   OK, I admit that I don't only listen to this on Halloween - it's one of the best CDs out there!

If you purchase any of these items through the Amazon links below, it will GREATLY help me maintain this website as far as web hosting costs, I woul appreciate it immensely if you order through this page as I will then get a small percentage of the sale from Amazon to keep "Spookshows" up and running.   Thank you in advance !

I have also created some ambient CDs of my own, various Soundscapes of eerie wind and thunder, etc. These CDs will soon be available for purchase through PayPal on my "For Sale" page.

"Magnificent Void" audio CD by Steve Roach is my FAVORITE Dark Ambient Halloween Audio Soundscape.  It is perfect to play indoors (or outdoors) during "trick or treating" or parties, the eerie background sound does not overwhelm or "get in the way" of your party.  I have hundreds of Halloween CDs, and I recommend this one as the best for ambient, spooky, sound. Listen to the samples at Amazon, you will not be disappointed!

The Midnight Syndicate CDs are also invaluable for Halloween Haunting:

DVD RECOMMENDATIONS:

THE INNOCENTS

Finally released ! A superb 1961 ghost story !   Deborah Kerr as a governess to two odd children at Bly House, a huge English Manor. One of Deborah Kerr's finest performances, this film is comparable in quality to 1963's "The Haunting".  Sound effects and music are used to bone-chilling effect !

HOMICIDAL

One of director William Castle's best films.  Made in 1961, it is a devious "Psycho" knockoff with some wonderful and creepy twists.  Some say this is better than Hitchcock's "Psycho".

THE HAUNTING

My favorite Halloween "haunted mansion" genre film.  Released in 1963, and re-released on DVD in April 2005, the bonus DVD extras are well worth the small price of this magnificent film.  Stars Julie Harris, Claire Bloom and Russ Tamblyn, directed by the great Robert Wise.

THE LOST SKELETON OF CADAVERA

I just discovered this gem. A pefectly made spoof of Sci-Fi films of the 1950's, this hilarious film is flawless in it's parody. Highly recommended !

THE HAUNTED HISTORY OF HALLOWEEN

PERFECT for us Halloween collectors. Great information from The History Channel and A&E regarding the history of our favorite spooky holiday !

THE SIMPSONS- TREEHOUSE OF HORROR

Spooky and very funny at the same time. Best of The Simpsons Halloween episodes.

MONSTERS CRASH THE PAJAMA PARTY

3-hour-plus Spooktacular containing everything you need for your very own Spook Party! First, join some terrified teens who spend a night in a haunted house and get spooked by a mad doctor and his ghoulish gang when the Monsters Crash the Pajama Party, a hilarious 1965 theatrical featurette complete with werewolf, gorilla in a fur coat, and goofy gimmick! Then, feel your eyes pop out of their sockets when you check into The Asylum of the Insane, a startling short subject with monsters in 3-D Spookarama (3-D glasses included)! But that's not all! This scary, screwy, chill-arious fright show includes bonus shorts, Spook Show previews, audio commentaries, How to Put on Your Own Spook Show, music by The Dead Elvi, and much more--plus the bonus feature-length chiller-diller Tormented!

DON'T LOOK NOW

Following the drowning of their child in England, Laura (Julie Christie) and John Baxter (Donald Sutherland) have come to dank, eternally dying Venice, where John is supervising the restoration of a moldering church and Laura is either slipping into or climbing out of madness with the help of a pair of creepy spinster sisters, one of whom can "see" even though blind.   John may share this psychic power, though he resists accepting it as the canals fill with murder victims, surface realities turn shimmery as water, and a red-coated figure--the daughter's ghost?--keeps flickering in the corner of our vision. Though surreal and perplexing, the film does eventually add up, and the ending remains a real throat-grabber.
